The best word to describe the morning of your wedding is surreal. Actually, the whole day is surreal, but the fact that the day you have been dreaming about and planning for is actually here does not hit you for a few more hours.
The best way to focus on enjoying your blissful ignorance is with these five crucial things:
It’s important to note that you should not drink on an empty stomach, especially the morning of your wedding! Having a healthy and nourishing breakfast is so important to keep you fueled for the long day ahead. A bagel or muffin is not the answer here. Think egg white omelette, fresh fruit, and plenty of water before your first mimosa. Don’t forget about lunch either. You most likely will be going straight from getting ready to your ceremony, which means no food until the cocktail hour. Be sure to have some lunch items for yourself and your bridesmaids to snack on before the ceremony.
Even if you aren’t getting dressed until later on in the day, it’s a good idea to leave your accessories out so they are readily available for your photographer and videographer. Some ideas are your heels, earrings, bracelets, your engagement ring and wedding band, and even special items like perfume. These images may not seem crucial, but will be good to have down the road.
Having cute drinkware to share with bridesmaids the morning of your wedding is a special touch that will certainly look better in photos than red solo cups! Affordable champagne flutes or stemless wine glasses make great options. I love these ones from Swoozies, but also found a great set from Bed Bath & Beyond recently.
4. Cute Coverups
Getting-ready outfits can range from robes and flannels, to tank tops and rompers. The important thing to keep in mind is that the outfit you’re selecting for your bridesmaids should always make them feel comfortable, especially if they’re going to be photographed. While you may love a romper, it may not be the most flattering on all your girls. I was able to get these waffle kimono robes from TheKnot.com during a great sale, and they were a really great options for my girls. They ran a little short, but I had a very tall bridal party! Whatever you decide, it’s important to remember that you never want to force your girls to wear something they won’t be comfortable in. Even worse, you don’t want to waste your money on something they’ll never wear again!
5. Photo List
This is the one thing I truly wish I had with me the morning of my wedding! I thought creating a photo list was totally unnecessary and didn’t want to offend my photographers by doubting their expertise. However, there were definitely some shots I wanted to capture, but during the insanity of the morning completely forgot to mention to my photographers. A few weeks before the big day, jot down any important photos you’d like them to take, such as your mother’s earrings you’re wearing, or a shot of all your bridesmaids with you, and this way you won’t forget these important moments.
